G.ho.st – A Web Operating System with Zoho and Google Docs integration

Following an article on ReadWriteWeb.com about Web Operating Systems I had a look at a WebOS called G.ho.st.  After watching all the video tutorials (I love them :-) I started to get impressed as it has many interesting features. The company is by the way a joined Israeli-Palestine project, which in itself is already a pleasant detail.

This video explains the advantages of a WebOS once more from the perspective of G.ho.st:

G.ho.st uses  many applications such as  webmail (Based upon Yahoo Zimbra), IM (ILoveIM, Meebo, Yahoo messenger), and a  music player within its own system. Furthermore it has a tight integration with for example Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheets and Zoho Show from within their own WebOS and gives you Google Docs access by making all your Google Docs documents available in a special folder on your G.ho.st folder system.

You can actually add your own layer of tags to all sorts of files, documents and pictures that you link to, or download, to g.ho.st from several pre installed services like YouTube, Flickr , Amazon or Google Books.

G.ho.st provides the user with 15GB of web storage so there is room for many documents, videos and music. There is a bulk uploader that lets you upload multiple files or folders at once and to top it all off there is a synchronisation program that lets you synchronize folders from your computer and the G.ho.st drive (available for Windows and Mac, Linux version is on its way according to the forum).

The g.ho.st operating system is available from any mobile phone that can operate a browser and from there you can perform simple actions including editing .txt files.
